The IRgA Index jumped 7 points for traditional reprographics work and 2 points for non-traditional work during the first quarter of 2015. The numbers stood at 66 for services to the traditional AEC market and 70 for services to the non-AEC market. These are the strongest numbers since the second quarter of 2014, when they stood at 71 and 82, respectively. By comparison, fourth quarter 2014 numbers were 59 and 68, respectively, and the third quarter numbers were 64 and 70, respectively. Any number over 50 indicates growth.
The first quarter 2015 Index was based on a survey of IRgA members sent in early May. Forty-seven reprographics shop members answered the survey. Of the respondents, 27 reported growth in their AEC business over the previous quarter, compared to only 17 who said that for the fourth quarter of 2014. For non-AEC business, 26 reported growth, compared to 22 who said that in the fourth quarter.
Specific details about the survey, such as a geographic breakdown and a detailed breakdown by type of job, will be emailed to respondents who completed the survey and Bronze, Silver, and Gold members. Look for the next survey in August.
