The IRgA Index jumped 16 points during the first quarter of 2016 for traditional AEC business. The Index stood at 72 for services to AEC businesses, compared to 56 in the fourth quarter of 2015. The Index slipped slightly for services to non-AEC businesses -- it stood at 70 for services to non-AEC markets, compared to 72 during the fourth quarter or 2015. Any number over 50 indicates growth.
In year-to-year comparison, the Index stood at 66 for AEC business during the first quarter of 2015, and 70 for non-AEC business.
The first quarter 2016 Index was based on a survey of IRgA members sent in April. Fifty reprographics shop members answered the survey. Of the respondents, 31 reported growth in their AEC business over the previous quarter, compared to 9 who said it went down. For non-AEC business, 27 reported growth, compared to 9 who saw a decline.
Specific details about the survey, such as a geographic breakdown and a detailed breakdown by type of job, will be emailed to respondents who completed the survey and Bronze, Silver, and Gold members. Look for the next survey in July.
