Andy Heling, president and co-owner of Blue Print Service Company, has been formally nominated to fill the open position on the APDSP Board of Directors. His company has locations in Appleton and Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Heling began his career in reprographics as a reprographic technician at Blue Print
Service Company in 2006. He eventually rose to production manager, and last year he purchased the company together with Tim Schuelke, who is now vice president and previously was manager of the Green Bay location, and Tara Ebben. Ebben is the daughter of Don and Mary Ebben, the company’s previous owners, and she is now treasurer/secretary. Click here to read an article about Heling's acquisition of Blue Print Service Company.
“Andy will bring enthusiasm for the industry, and the practical wisdom of someone who runs a reprographics business day in and day out,” says Ed Avis, managing director of APDSP. “I’m truly looking forward to the ideas he will share with us.”
The official election for the open board position will occur at the board meeting on October 19 at 4 p.m., just prior to the Opening Reception of the 2018 APDSP Convention in Las Vegas. The convention will be held at the Hard Rock Hotel. Click here for more information.
Changes at the Top
In addition to formally nominating Heling, the board underwent its annual leadership transition during the board meeting in Chicago on August 10.
Daphne Best, owner of MS Dallas, handed over the president’s gavel to Kyle Batsford, president of Palomar Reprographics in Carlsbad, California. And Elmer Rhodes, immediate past president, dropped off the board.
“It was a real pleasure working with Elmer these past four years,” Avis says. “His forward-looking ideas about the reprographics industry and his constant willingness to dive into projects helped make APDSP a stronger, more up-to-date association. I’m counting on Elmer remaining involved, even though he’s no longer on the board.”
Document Templates, Webinars
Among the initiatives discussed at the Chicago meeting was the concept of creating a set of document templates that APDSP members could access and adapt to their own businesses. For example, templates for proposals, contracts, marketing materials, and employee manuals could be created. Members could download them and customize them to fit their needs.
Also, the board decided to continue the successful members-only webinar series. Topics for 2019 have not been determined, but ideas discussed included how to effectively run an FM program; how to enter the wall covering market; and how to create a “lunch and learn” program for local AEC customers and prospects.
Stay tuned for details on these initiatives in the months ahead.
