2018 APDSP Convention Attendees
A post-convention survey of people who attended the 2018 APDSP Convention in Las Vegas in October revealed that a majority of them found it highly beneficial to their business.
The survey asked attendees about their experience in the Welcome Reception on October 19 and the educational sessions on October 20.
Attendees to the Welcome Reception found a lot of good networking opportunities at the reception, which was attended by about 100 people. Thirty-two percent of survey respondents said the networking opportunities were "Great," and 53 percent said they were "Good." About 10 percent ranked the networking "OK" and 5 percent said they were "Poor."
The food and beverage options at the reception were also appreciated -- 85 percent rated them "Good" or "Great." The overall atmosphere of the room received slightly lower marks -- 74 percent rated it "Good" or "Great."
The survey responders were invited to provide comments, too. Several mentioned that the
room for the reception was too small and noisy, which was likely because the crowd was larger than anticipated. One respondent noted, "It was good to combine reception times with affinity groups," a confirmation that the efforts to dodge ReproMAX and RSA events -- and to invite members of those groups to the reception -- paid off.
The education events on October 20 also received good marks. The Social Media for Reprographics Shops event was rated as "Good" or "Great" by 56 percent of respondents, and "Decent" by 22 percent.
"I feel I benefited from attending the Social Media educational event," one survey respondent commented. "I liked the two women from Brandon & Brandon, I felt they brought to the table good information."
The panel discussion about new markets for reprographics shops -- featuring Daphne Best
of MS Dallas; Elmer Rhodes of Cross Rhodes Imaging; and Woodie Rush of Rush DCS -- also got high marks. Every survey respondent rated that session as "Decent" or higher, and 13 percent rated it "Great - This Will Improve My Business."
One respondent commented: "I particularly appreciated Woodie Rush's talk because he delved into the difficult decision of what direction makes the most sense for YOU."
The final presentations of the event discussed the business builder programs of Canon and HP. They both received solid scores, with nearly everyone rating them "OK," "Decent" or "Good."
