Joel Salus, Carter Crisp and Chuck Gremillion will be the key presenters in the APDSP Workshop in Houston on March 16-17, 2023. The event will help reprographics firm owners prepare their shops for an eventual sale, and help owners seeking to acquire other shops learn how to evaluate potential acquisitions. "We are creating a full-day program that will seriously prepare reprographics shop owners for the M&A situation," says APDSP Managing Director Ed Avis. "Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of what they need to do to be ready for a sale or acquisition. Our three presenters are bona fide experts in this area and are preparing to share their knowledge."
Salus is a former reprographics firm founder who has been on both sides of the M&A table. In recent years he has shepherded 40 successful sale/acquisition transactions in the reprographics field. Crisp is the vice president of marketing of Crisp Imaging, a company that has been steadily acquiring reprographics firms on the West Coast and now has 22 locations. He will provide unique insight from the perspective of an acquirer. Gremillion was the president of his family's reprographics firm, A&E - The Graphics Complex, when it was sold to Thomas Reprographics in 2007. He will help attendees understand how to prepare their firms for a successful sale and integration into the new owner's business.
The event will begin with a networking dinner on the evening of Thursday, March 16, followed by a full-day of education on Friday, March 17. Attendees will have ample opportunity to ask questions of the presenters, and they will leave with a binder of information that will help them prepare their firms for an M&A transaction.
The event will be held at the Le Meridien Houston Downtown. The fee for APDSP members is $275, with an early-bird discount of $25 through February 1. The cost for non-members is $325 (non-members who join the APDSP at the same time as they register for the event can receive a bonus $50 off their membership dues). The second APDSP workshop of 2023 will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, April 27-28. The topic will be Maximizing Web Promotions/Google Analytics, and the event will be led by a consultant/trainer in that area. Stay tuned for more details about that event in coming weeks. Last year we held three workshops. Here are some comments from attendees of last year's events:
"In 2022 I attended the APDSP workshop in Chicago. The focus of the workshop was sales in reprographics, which was a great way to stay up to date with new sales techniques, as well as brush up on proven sales methods. But even with the excellent keynote speaker and subsequent roundtable discussion, I still find time and again that the most valuable element of our workshop is networking with peers. It is always interesting to see how other firms in our industry are evolving and growing in our ever changing business environment.” Andy Heling, Blue Print Service Co., Appleton, Wisconsin
"The workshop was very valuable. I learned many useful strategies from the speakers and from other companies attending. I left motivated with new ideas.” Tom Taubenheim, A/E Graphics, Brookfield, Wisconsin
"I enjoyed attending the APDSP workshop and found it beneficial to my business. I met new folks in the industry (which is always a breath of fresh air), I visited with folks that are excited about the industry, and even a consultant that has remained an advisor to me. I’m thankful Ed is keeping the group up and hope to participate again this year!" Luci Miller, Miller Imaging & Digital Solutions
