The APDSP Index (formerly the IRgA Index), showing continuing strength, was virtually flat during the second quarter of 2016 -- it was 71 for AEC business, compared to 72 in the first quarter; and 73 for non-AEC business, compared to 70 during the first quarter. Any number over 50 indicates growth, so these figures show that strong growth continues in both areas.
In year-to-year comparison, however, the Index was down a few points. The Index stood at 74 for AEC business during the second quarter of 2015, and 78 for non-AEC business.
The second quarter 2016 Index was based on a survey of IRgA members sent in September. Sixty-four reprographics shop members answered the survey. Of the respondents, 33 reported growth in their AEC business over the previous quarter, compared to 7 who said it went down. For non-AEC business, 33 reported growth, compared to 4 who saw a decline.
Specific details about the survey, such as a geographic breakdown and a detailed breakdown by type of job, will be emailed to respondents who completed the survey and paid APDSP members. Look for the next survey in November.
