The APDSP Index (formerly the IRgA Index), showing slowing growth, was down during the third quarter of 2016 -- it was 63 for AEC business, compared to 71 in the second quarter; and 69 for non-AEC business, compared to 73 during the second quarter. Any number over 50 indicates growth, so these figures show that strong growth continues in both areas.
In year-to-year comparison, however, the Index was up in AEC business and down in non-AEC. The Index stood at 57 for AEC business during the third quarter of 2015, and 72 for non-AEC business.
The third quarter 2016 Index was based on a survey of IRgA members sent in November. Fifty-four reprographics shop members answered the survey. Of the respondents, 23 reported growth in their AEC business over the previous quarter, compared to 9 who said it went down. For non-AEC business, 26 reported growth, compared to 6 who saw a decline.
Specific details about the survey, such as a geographic breakdown and a detailed breakdown by type of job, will be emailed to respondents who completed the survey and paid APDSP members. Look for the next survey in November.
